In 2022, the Department of Philology and Translation started work on a new Scientific Research Work “Competency approach to teaching language and literature”. Scientific and Research Work is planned for 2022-2024.

From 2019 to 2021, the Department of Philology and Translation conducted the Scientific Research Work “Methodology of formation of communicative competence of students of non-linguistic higher education institutions”. At the end of the Scientific-Research Work, the Study Guide for Teaching Communicative Competence of Students of Non-Language Higher Education Institutions at Different Stages of Learning a Foreign Language at the “Bachelor” Educational Level for the Specialty 051 “Economics” was submitted for publication. The communicative approach used in the manual allows students to focus on live communication between themselves and the teacher, learn to express their thoughts in English, and understand the interlocutor. The study guide can be used both in classroom classes and for the independent work of students.

From 2011 to 2015, the teachers of the Department were engaged in research work Specificity of terminological dictionaries compiling and their use in teaching of foreign language in non-language higher educational institutions.

During this period the teachers of the Department collected and processed the material on a given topic. Several seminars on the systematization of terminological material were held. As a result of the research work, the terminological English-Ukrainian and German-Ukrainian dictionaries were compiled and published in the fields of following specialties: “Biotechnology”, “Pharmaceuticals”, “Chemical and cosmetic supplements”.

Since the beginning of 2016, the Department has been studying forms of linguistic competence and their use in non-language higher educational institutions.
