The Department trains specialists (bachelors, masters) on specialty 133 “Sectoral Engineering”, both in full-time and part-time forms of training.
The sphere of activity of the mechanical engineer includes enterprises of practically all branches of industry, such as food (ice cream production, sweets, coffee, flour, milk, meat, etc.) and chemical (production of building materials, glass, ceramics, fuel, polymer products, mineral fertilizers, etc.).The object of the mechanical engineer’s activity is the technical equipment and production processes for the processing of raw materials and semi-finished products into commodity products.
Specialty 133 “Sectoral Engineering” is especially relevant in connection with the development of small enterprises, where one specialist controls the technology, equipment and economic aspects of production.
What does a mechanic engineer do?
A mechanic engineer organizes the operation, maintenance and repair of technological equipment, is engaged in its design, construction, production, installation and adjustment, selects corrosion-resistant construction materials for equipment and develops methods of protection against corrosion and wear, investigates the technological processes that occur in the equipment, to increase its efficiency work
In a non-productive area, a mechanical engineer can be implemented as a manager-engineer, marketing engineer for the sale of technological equipment, design engineer for small equipment for small enterprises. All this is connected with engineering activities.
Therefore, at the Department of Equipment and Technology of Food Production in specialty 133 “Sectoral Engineering” three new educational programs of training were opened:
- Food Engineering
The development of agriculture in Ukraine in recent times requires a corresponding increase in processing and food production, which leads to the opening of new production capacities at existing plants and the creation of small processing enterprises. There is a need for specialized training of mechanical engineers in the direction of ensuring the production and use of food products.
The educational program provides for the comprehensive provision of knowledge on the development, adjustment and operation of specialized equipment for implementation in the conditions: industrial (mass or artificial production and preservation of products); consumer (home) or public (restaurant, cafe, dining room); transport (air, land, water) or office.
- Engineering of production facilities
The life cycle of production facilities requires the modernization of existing enterprises, or the closure of obsolete and the construction of new productions and optimization of production management. Therefore, there was a need for specialists in the engineering of production facilities.
The educational program provides for the comprehensive provision of knowledge on the preparation and maintenance of stable operation of production facilities, the development and implementation of methods for protecting equipment against aggressive environmental impact, environmental corrosion, wear, aging and bio-damage. This group includes work related to the optimization of operation processes, enterprise management and sales of its products.
- Engineering of packaging products
The growth of the pace of human activity changes the contemporary ideas regarding the establishment of a modern life and the conditions for the use of food products. All products and products require packaging. Packing materials play an important role in the formation of the range of goods, their image, ensuring the preservation of goods in the process of moving. The modern, efficient and attractive packaging has been transformed into an active market tool.
There is a need for specialized training of mechanical engineers in the direction of ensuring an acceptable convenience for the consumer to use products that can have a food and non-food ingredient.
During the training, this educational program provides comprehensive knowledge of the development, commissioning and operation of specialized equipment for packing products (dispensing, packaging and storage), sales (transportation, storage and unpacking) and utilization (processing: non-conformities, remains and packaging).
