Clusters are drivers of development and countering crisis phenomena.
On May 30, 2023, printing equipment was transferred to the Ukrainian State Chemical and Technological University (UDHTU) for use in the process of training future specialists and for the needs of participants in the cluster of the publishing and printing industry of Dnipropetrovsk region (improvement of qualifications, internships, retraining for micro-qualifications, etc.).
Natalia Isaeva, head of the cluster, director of the Publishing and printing house “Format A+” handed over a manual silk screen printing machine purchased at the expense of the cluster development investment program for 6 colors of printing for the launch of research works and a training point for the rector of UDHTU Kostyantyn Mykhailovych Sukhom, doctor of technical sciences, professor.
Managers, mentors of the cluster and scientific and pedagogical workers of the university were present at the handover of the equipment and commissioning works: Olga Sverdlikovska – doctor of chemical sciences, professor, Valery Ovcharov – doctor of technical sciences, professor, Potapchuk Maksym – director of “Metal-Print” LLC, scientific and pedagogical staff of the Belotserk Institute of Continuing Professional Education: Olena Yudenkova and Iryna Goncharova.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the project of creating an innovative industrial platform “Professional Alternative Dnipro” Cluster of the printing industry, publishing houses and digital technologies “Printing: logistics, service, quality”, which is supported within the implementation of the program “EU4Business: competitiveness and internationalization of SMEs”, which is jointly financed by the European Union and the German government through the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (the purpose of the program is to create better conditions for development of Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to support innovations and stimulate exports, which is the way to sustainable and uniform economic growth).
One of the definitions of the 4th industrial revolution says that it is a concept “…not so much about artificial intelligence and robots, but about a much better collective and organizational ability to respond to new challenges and global changes.”

Thus, the Polygraphic Cluster of Dnipropetrovsk region demonstrates a high ability to adapt to new challenges, although its level of maturity is low compared to clusters of developed countries and requires the support of appropriate cluster policies in the state, as well as a plan to support domestic manufacturers.

Instead, the Cluster takes small steps and good deeds every day to increase the competitiveness of the region, implement innovations and attract investments. Thus, within the scope of the specified project – “Professional Alternative Dnipro”, the Center for Innovative Costs of the Printing Industry Cluster was created on the basis of UDHTU. of publishing houses and digital technologies (KPI VCT). Currently, its development strategies are still being developed and agreed upon, but the main purpose of its activity is to ensure the transfer of modern production technologies to solve current fundamental and applied issues in various fields.
Taking into account the specifics of the existing models for evaluating the work of cluster structures, the efficiency of the cluster can be considered from two positions: social and economic. Accordingly, today we can already report on the social efficiency of activities, which is an important indicator of the stable development of the cluster structure and is reflected in the improvement of the level of formation of the personnel potential of the region in the conditions of martial law.
Thus, the new powerful initiatives of the Cluster, the support of the cluster movement by donors – all this together gives hope that the cluster movement in Ukraine will help the state to restart the economy. The unity of all stakeholders is the key to Ukraine’s success!
The development of partnership with non-governmental partner organizations and business structures of European countries became possible thanks to the implementation of the grant project “Innovative industrial site “Professional Alternative Dnipro”” within the program EU4Business is an initiative of the European Union that helps small and medium-sized enterprises in the Eastern Partnership countries.
