Participation of teachers and students of the department of technology of inorganic substances and ecology in the international project “Safe drinking water in Ukraine: access to information about water quality and water treatment methods”

The NGO “All-Ukrainian Water Society “WaterNet” implements the project “Safe drinking water in Ukraine: access to information about water quality and water treatment methods”, which is financed by the Finnish Fund for Local Cooperation of the Embassy of Finland in Ukraine. (Project implementation period: December 2022 – June 2024.)

The project is implemented jointly with the chemical and technological faculty, NTUU “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky”, and in cooperation with the Ukrainian State University of Chemistry and Technology, Lviv Polytechnic University, National University of Water Management and Nature Management.

 

The executors of the international project are the teachers of the Department of Technology of Inorganic Substances and Ecology: Ph.D., prof. Roman SMOTRAEV, Ph.D., prof. Ihor KOVALENKO, PhD, prof. Victor VERESCHAK, Ph.D., prof. Lilia FROLOVA, Ph.D., Assoc., Victor GEVOD, Ph.D., Assoc. Tetyana BUTYRINA, Ph.D., Assoc. Olena HRUZDEVA, Ph.D., Assoc. Oleg KOZHURA, Ph.D., Assoc. Natalia MAKARCHENKO, Ph.D., Assoc. Aleksandr PASENKO, Ph.D., Assoc. Yulia POLISHCHUK, Ph.D., Assoc. Margarita SKIBA. The designated teachers are also valid members of the professional union “All-Ukrainian Water Society “WaterNet”.

The activity of this project includes two main components:

  • monitoring of drinking water quality in Ukraine and development of a new Water Quality Map
  • informational and educational activity in the direction of “Modern methods of water treatment”

 

 

 

Monitoring the quality of drinking water in Ukraine involves the study of water from various sources of water supply (water pipelines, wells, wells) at various points throughout the territory of Ukraine, where it is currently possible. Based on the results of the monitoring, an interactive online Water Quality Map of Ukraine will be compiled.

The educational component of this project includes the development and implementation of online educational courses for various target groups in the educational process:

  • For teachers of professional higher education institutions: the course “Modern methods of water treatment: theoretical foundations and teaching methods”,
  • For students of specialized specialties: the course “New technologies of water treatment”.
