Conference “Chemical Problems of the Present” (Vinnitsa)

On March 19-21, 2019, the 2nd International (XII Ukrainian) Scientific Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists “Chemical Problems of the Present” (CPP-2019) took place on the basis of Research & Education Institute of Chemistry at Donetsk National University named after Vasyl Stus. This year, 197 participants, who submitted theses on analytical, quantum, inorganic, organic, physical, medical and pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical education, chemical engineering, chemistry of polymers and composites, have registered themselves for participation in the conference. Traditionally, they represent institutions of higher education and scientific institutions of Ukraine, as well as other countries – Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, Estonia, Germany, Poland, and Brazil.

The Conference was attended by associate professor Koltsova Yaroslav Ivanovna, post-graduate student Petukh Svetlana Ivanivna (Department of CTCG); Associate Professor Varinichenko Svetlana Anatolievna and post graduate students Zagorulko Sergiy Pavlovich, Kovtun Anton Vladimirovich, Smetanin Mykola Viktorovich (Department of TOSFP) who represented our University.

The participants of the conference were welcomed by the vice-principal for scientific work of DonNU named after Vasyl Stus, Dr. of Econ. Sciences, prof. Hadzhinov Illya Vasilyovich. He noted that for the fourth time he has the opportunity to open the conference “Chemical problems of the present” after the transfer of the University to the city of Vinnitsa, the conference taking place in the international status for the second time. Having wished the participants the fruitful work during the conference, he gave the floor to the chairman of the organizing committee, prof., doctor of chemistry Shendryk Alexander Mykolayevich. Professor Shendryck drew the attention of the participants to the fact that the number of chemists who study and work in chemical departments or in institutes separated from other subdivisions of higher education institutions becomes progressively smaller. At the same time, there is a great demand for the profession of chemist among the employers. Therefore, the conference participants, including representatives of almost all institutions of higher education and scientific institutions of Ukraine, should understand that the specialty they chose is rather promising. After wishing successful speeches and announcing organizational moments regarding the schedule of the meetings, the sections started working.

Postgraduate student of the CTCG Department Petukh S.I. for the report “Porous glass-crystalline materials using the kinescope broken glass” was awarded the diploma for the 1st place in the section “Chemical Engineering”.

Postgraduate student of the Department of TOSFP Kovtun AV for the report “Peculiarities of the regrouping of spiroderivative benzothien [3,2-d] pyrimidines under the conditions of the Wilsmeier-Haack reaction” received the diploma for the 2 nd place in the section “Organic chemistry”, as well as gift of money for the best oral report in Ukrainian.

Postgraduate student of TOSFP Department Smetanin M.V. for the report “Synthesis and study of antibacterial activity of functionalized derivatives of N-aryl hydrazone-7-oxoheptane and indolyl-butyric acids” was awarded the diploma for the 3d place in the section “Organic chemistry”.
