Logistics in conditions of war: challenges and solutions
The war in Ukraine has significantly affected the country’s logistics system, causing significant problems with transport routes and supply chains. The head of the department of marketing and logistics of the Ukrainian State Chemical and Technological University, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Olga Kuchkova told about this in an interview with the Open TV channel on June 18, 2024.
In particular, due to hostilities, access to key transport arteries of Ukraine has been blocked or restricted, which has led to isolation and complication of international transport connections. This, in turn, negatively affected foreign trade and logistics processes, increasing the time and costs of delivering goods.
Additional challenges for Ukrainian logistics were changes in customs procedures and controls, as well as the need for companies to revise their logistics strategies in order to choose new routes and approaches to the delivery of goods.
“Logistics is a critical element for the recovery and further development of Ukraine’s economy”, – emphasizes Olha Kuchkova. “In the future, infrastructure restoration, humanitarian aid delivery, business support, employment provision, investment attraction, cost optimization, regional development and improvement of international trade will all depend on it.”
