On August 6, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced results of the second competitive selection of scientific projects financed within the framework of the prestigious European program “Horizon 2020”. 142 projects took part in the selection, of which 106 were accepted for consideration, and 33 participants became winners.

The project “Chemical and structural design of the latest functional materials”, whose scientific leader is Kostyantyn Mykhailovych Sukhyi, was submitted by the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology and was among the five winners in the field of “Infrastructure projects”.

We especially want to congratulate the representatives of the educational and scientific institute “Ukrainian State Chemical and Technological University”, who made a significant contribution to this victory. The team from NNI UDHTU included:

• Kovalyov Stanislav Vyacheslavovych — Head of the Department of Energy, Associate Professor of the Department of Materials Science, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor;
• Olexandr Borisovych Velichenko — Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• Olexandr Volodymyrovych Ovchinnikov — senior researcher of the Department of Energy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor;
• Polishchuk Yuliya Valeriivna — associate professor of the department of technology of inorganic substances and ecology, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor;
• Oleg Oleksandrovych Kalinichenko — associate professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technology, Candidate of Technical Sciences, associate professor;
• Skyba Margarita Ivanivna — professor of the department of technology of inorganic substances and ecology, doctor of technical sciences, associate professor.

Thanks to the victory in the competitive selection of scientific projects of the “Horizon 2020” program, the university will receive funding for the development of scientific infrastructure. The newest research center in the field of materials science and additive technologies CREATE will be created. This opens up new opportunities for our scientists and students to conduct advanced research and develop innovative materials for various industries.
