DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER-INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY AND AUTOMATION

The Department prepares specialists for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the field of knowledge – 15 Automation and instrumentation for the educational program 151 Automation and computer-integrated technologies.

Specialty: 151 Automation and computer-integrated technologies
Educational program:

Automation and computer-integrated technologies (A and CIT)

Specialty 151 – Automation and computer-integrated technologies are ideal for those who are ready to create the future right now, without waiting for someone else to do it. Graduates of our department not only receive a diploma of European level, but they are also extra-class specialists in the field of management, information technology, and telecommunications networks.

Our curriculum is designed to meet global standards of design and production management, so throughout the study period, students gain a strong knowledge base. The theory of automatic control, modern programming languages, database design and management systems, methods of obtaining, processing, and protecting information, synthesis of control systems based on neural networks – this is by no means a complete list of what our students study.

Bachelors and masters of A and CIT – aces in their field, their projects are successfully implemented wherever there is a need for automation: production of chemical, food, and other industries, design bureaus, research institutes, communications, and transport.

Specialists in the specialty “Automated process control” (now – 151 Automation and computer-integrated technologies) the Department has been training since 1959. In 1996, a new specialty was opened – “Metrology and Measurement Technology” (now – 152 Metrology and Information Measurement Technology). The opening of the second specialty is associated with the rapid increase in the information component of automated process control systems, the emergence of high-precision and reliable methods and techniques of measurement, the introduction of computer technology for measurement and control, etc. In 2018, specialists in 152 Metrology and Information and Measurement Technology began training at the Department of Metrology and Software Quality Control, and the Department of A and CIT was renamed the Department of Computer-Integrated Technologies and Automation

Over the years of its existence, the Department has trained more than 3,000 specialists in the field of automation and measuring equipment.

Teaching

The educational process in the disciplines of the department is carried out by 3 professors, 8 associate professors, and 1 senior lecturer.

Students study according to the most modern curricula, which are updated annually in accordance with current trends. They take into account not only the latest achievements in the IT industry but also the needs of the real sector of production in the world in general and Ukraine in particular. And in the process of learning, our teachers will help masters and bachelors to express and implement their views on the modernization of industry in those areas that interest them most.

In the educational process materials of the researches executed by the scientific collection of the Department are widely used. Students of the Department are actively involved in such research.

The Department is equipped with modern means of microprocessor and measuring equipment, has 2 computer classes with the Internet.

Scientific research work

Research work is carried out in two scientific areas: “Research and environmental monitoring of air and water basins of the Dnieper region”, performed by a specialized research laboratory of the department, and “Computer modeling and parametric synthesis of automated process control systems.” The results of scientific activities of the department are implemented at the leading enterprises of the region and abroad.

Over the years, the staff of the department has published more than 550 articles, 12 monographs, received more than 200 copyright certificates and patents.

A special pride of the department is the accredited research laboratory “Metrological support of environmental control”, located in a building on the picturesque banks of the Dnieper River in front of the water ski stadium.

Curators and leisure time of students

The institute of curators constantly functions at the Department, forming a new outlook and active life position of students – future young specialists and industry leaders. Educational work, which is conducted in student groups, is a unique process, which is designed to form a high culture, humanistic and democratic world outlook for students, to educate them as citizens of Ukraine. This is facilitated by the traditional after-lesson activities of students at SHEI Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technological. Students of all faculties and departments take active participation in: solemn dedication to the students, competitions of the faculty teams of the KVN, the competitions on Ukrainian studies, the festival of amateur activities “Student’s Spring” , competition “Beauty of the University”, competition of bard student song, graduation party “Goodbye, Alma mater!” and others.

Sport life

The students of the Department devote quite a considerable part of their leisure activities to physical education and sports. For this purpose, appropriate conditions have been created at the University: these include sports rooms with exercise equipment for individual exercises in each hostel, a sports complex with three gyms and a water station on the Dnipro River. The University has sports sections of 15 sports that employ around 460 students.

Student self-government

Student self-government at the university is the foundation upon which future masters acquire organizational skills. On the principles of student self-government, the Committee on Family and Youth Affairs, the Student Union, Student Councils of five hostels as well as student clubs of interests act at the University. The decisions of the student self-government bodies of the University are advisory. The University has created and operates student self-government bodies: the Student Council of the University, Student Councils of all faculties, Student Councils of each of the dormitories. Student Council is the supreme body of students’ self-government at the University.

The main tasks of the bodies of student self-government are: the provision and protection of the rights and interests of students, first of all, in relation to the organization of the educational process; ensuring student fulfillment of their duties; promotion of educational, scientific and creative activity of students; promotion of the creation of appropriate conditions for students’ residency and rest; promotion of activity of clubs and clubs by interests; assistance in the employment of graduates; participation in solving personal issues.
