The USUCT SEI Held Its Traditional Autumn Cleanup Day
They gathered during the long break in the courtyard of the main building. The joint work was joined by the Director of the USUCT SEI, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Olha Serhiivna Sverdlikovska; Deputy Director, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yaroslav Mykolaiovych Kozlov; Dean of the Faculty of Food and Chemical Technologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valerii Ivanovych Ovcharov; representatives of the Student Council of the USUCT SEI; lecturers and students of the institute.
This time, the main autumn accent was chrysanthemums, which were planted in the courtyard, existing plants were replanted, and flower beds were tidied up. Together with the chrysanthemums, the participants planted flower bulbs that are expected to bloom in spring. Thus, the results of this cleanup day will be visible not only now, in autumn, but also after the end of winter.
Some of the flowers were also planted near the “The Winged Need No Ground” memorial sign on the side of the entrance to the main building from Nauky Avenue. It is at this memorial sign that the university community holds events to honor the memory of fallen defenders of Ukraine.
For the USUCT SEI, such joint work has already become part of university life. In the spring of this year, on March 24, students, lecturers, and the administration also tidied up the courtyard, renewed the flower beds, and planted juniper seedlings. And last year, on the grounds of the main building, they also created shared flower beds with the participation of faculties, students, and lecturers, so the tradition of caring for the university space has its own history.
The autumn cleanup day became another opportunity to meet outside the classrooms and make the familiar university space more welcoming together. There was no division into students, lecturers, or administrators: someone brought water, someone planted chrysanthemums, someone worked with the soil, and someone helped tidy up the flower beds.
Such small joint efforts also shape the university environment. It consists not only of classrooms and laboratories, but also of a space cared for by the people who study and work here.
And the bulbs planted that day have already left a small reminder of the coming spring in the ground.
