The Ukrainian State University of Chemistry and Technology joined the ERASMUS+ UKRENERGY program

Project 101082898 — UKRENERGY “Innovative Master Courses Supporting the Improvement of the Energy and Carbon Footprint of the Ukrainian Building Stock”, ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE-STRAND-2) is focused on the development of new master’s programs on the topic “Energy efficiency, modernization of buildings and energy planning” in Ukrainian universities and the promotion of EU best practices in educational methodologies and specific knowledge related to energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings, in particular, the implementation of innovative master’s courses on energy efficiency and reduction of the carbon footprint in the building stock of Ukraine.

The project is financed under the ERASMUS+ program Development of potential in the field of higher education.

On April 18-24, 2023, a kick-off meeting and study visit was held at the University of Genoa, Italy (project coordinator) to harmonize academic approaches.

Representatives of all project participants took part in the meeting:

  • Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Ukraine;
  • Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Ukraine;
  • State Higher Educational Institution Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture;
  • Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine, National Transport University, Ukraine;
  • Odesa National Economic University, Ukraine;
  • Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology, Ukraine;
  • Lviv National Environmental University, Ukraine;
  • State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Ukraine;
  • Akademia Gorniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanislawa Staszica w Krakowie, Poland;
  • Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Slovakia;
  • Universita Degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (UNICAMPANIA), Italy.

Kostyantyn Mykhailovych Sukhyi, rector and Olena Anatoliivna Bielianovska, associated professor of the Department of Power Engineering participated in the opening meeting from the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology.

During the meeting, the following main issues were discussed:

  • General structure and main tasks of the project;
  • general characteristics of Ukrainian higher education institutions and experience in similar programs;
  • the needs of Ukrainian universities regarding the project, taking into account the specific topics of the project at the institutional and national level;
  • expectations of Ukrainian universities from the project regarding educational programs – didactic and structural – according to the general level and the current geopolitical situation;
  • conclusion of the Consortium Agreement in addition to the Grant Agreement;
  • development and approval of the quality plan;
  • development and approval of the information dissemination plan;
  • equipment purchase procedures;
  • administrative reporting;
  • project management, assignment and tasks of project groups;
  • other aspects of organizational, administrative and financial management of the project and other issues;
  • innovative approaches to energy and structural modernization of buildings;
  • presentation of the project and discussion with the teachers of the Polytechnic School of the University of Genoa – teaching and educational activities in the field of energy efficiency in buildings at the University of Genoa and courses in building physics, acoustic design and building design.

Information on the scientific achievements and experience of the Ukrainian State  University of Chemical Technology in international projects was presented by K.M. Sukhyi, rector.

The presentation of the scientific and educational-methodological developments of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology in the field of energy efficiency was carried out by O. A. Bielianovska, associate professor of the Department of Power Engineering.

In the microgroups, the academic aspects of UKRENERGY, the issue of harmonization of educational programs, as well as the discussion of the analysis of the needs of Ukrainian universities and the work plan of the project, and the formulation of the main tasks for the current stage of the project were conducted.

Participation in this project will give a powerful impetus to scientific activity and contribute to the active updating of educational programs based on Ukrainian and European experience.
