The Director of the SEI USUCT participated in the Professional Development Program for Academic Managers

On November 11–14, 2025, the team of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology joined the second module of the Academic Managers Professional Development Program – an all-Ukrainian initiative aimed at strengthening managerial competencies in the field of higher education. The program is implemented within the framework of the World Bank’s Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project (UIHERP) project with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the British Council.

This time, the intensive was dedicated to strategizing in conditions of uncertainty – a topic that is extremely important for the development of university departments today.

One of the participants from USUST was the director of the SEI USUCT, professor Olga Sverdlikovska, who had already worked in the first module of the program, and now continued to master the tools of strategic analysis, team interaction, and managerial decision-making.

Over the course of four days, participants:

  • discussed trends and state policy in the field of higher education;
  • learned to analyze the internal and external environment of the university;
  • examined real cases of strategic changes and the experience of colleagues;
  • worked with the topics of open science, strategy communication, and institutional sustainability;
  • developed team solutions for the development of their departments.

Professor Olga Sverdlikovska joined the sessions that dealt with the practical application of strategic tools, as well as issues that are particularly relevant for industry institutes: the effectiveness of internal processes, interaction with stakeholders, the formation of development priorities, and adaptation to changes in the education system.

Participants noted the high content of the module, meaningful lectures by experts, and the opportunity to work with colleagues from universities in different regions. The value of teamwork was particularly emphasized, during which each team formed its own strategic approaches.

Professor Olga Sverdlikovska returns to the institute with new tools and ideas that she plans to use in the further work of the Institute of Research and Development of the USUCT, in particular in the processes of planning, development of educational programs, and strengthening institutional sustainability.
