Social business as a driver of economic recovery of Ukraine

Today, Ukraine’s economy is suffering huge losses due to a full-scale war with the Russian Federation. In such difficult conditions, the number of social problems has increased rapidly, and the state cannot always solve these issues. This is where social business comes to the rescue.

The role of social business in the restored economy of Ukraine was told in an interview with the Open TV channel on July 12, 2024 by the associate professor of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Production Organization and Theoretical and Applied Economics of the Ukrainian State Chemical and Technological University, Candidate of Economic Sciences Ryabik Hanna.< /p>

The topic of social entrepreneurship or social business is gaining more and more popularity today, because more than two years of full-scale war have shown how effectively Ukrainians know how to respond to complex challenges and solve problems that state institutions cannot cope with. Especially in the context of socially vulnerable people. The problems they constantly face have accelerated the development of social business in Ukraine. Social entrepreneurship is an activity whose profits go not only to salaries and financial enrichment, but also to solving social and environmental challenges.

“In Ukraine, the trend of social business development existed until February 24, 2022. But the full-scale war showed that this form of entrepreneurship is capable of quite effectively overcoming the problems of those who are in critical need of support,” Hanna Ryabik emphasizes. “The movement of social entrepreneurship is spreading in Ukraine, which speaks of people’s willingness to do good deeds and simultaneously increase the level of their prosperity. And it is precisely the latter that is the key to the development of the economy.” But this type of entrepreneurial activity today faces certain problems, which were voiced by Hanna Ryabik.
