Meeting of the BIOTECH circle in the Art Space of USUCT in the edutainment format

On May 5, 2026, a meeting of the “BIOTECH” scientific club was held in the Art Space of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of USUST, organized in the edutainment format — a combination of education and interactive game-based practices.

This approach is one of the modern tools of non-formal education that promotes active involvement of students in the educational process, as well as the development of critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills. The edutainment format is widely used in STEM education as an effective way to integrate theoretical knowledge into practical activity through situation modeling, decision-making, and interdisciplinary interaction.

During the meeting, the club participants moved away from traditional laboratory classes and worked in an interactive format, applying knowledge of biotechnology, genetics, and bioengineering within simulated game scenarios. In particular, during the game “Bunker”, students argued the importance of their own competencies in the context of humanity’s survival, while the intellectual “Mafia” format contributed to the development of strategic thinking, logic, and communication skills.

Teamwork allowed the participants to develop skills in argumentation, rapid decision-making, and interaction under time constraints. At the same time, the interactive format promoted emotional engagement, increased motivation for learning, and the development of flexible thinking.

The event was organized with the participation of Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Biotechnology and Life Safety Maksym Malook, whose initiative and involvement ensured a high level of the meeting’s organization.

The “BIOTECH” scientific club functions as a platform for the development of students’ research competencies, combining classical scientific training with modern educational approaches. Club members have the opportunity to deepen their professional knowledge, work on their own projects, and participate in scientific and practical events.

The SEI USUCT continues to implement innovative educational formats, creating an environment where science, creativity, and practical experience are combined.
