Historical lessons of the Holodomor from researcher Valentyn Rybalka
On November 28, 2024, students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of USUCT met with Valentyn Rybalka, head of the exposition, exhibition and publishing department of the municipal institution “Museum of Resistance to the Holodomor”. The historian and researcher, known for his works on the Holodomor, gave a lecture dedicated to the tragedy of 1932-1933 – one of the most terrible periods in the history of Ukraine.
During his speech, Valentyn Rybalka spoke about the Holodomor as an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people, focusing on its causes, organization, consequences and impact on Ukrainian society. Special emphasis was placed on the issues of international recognition of the Holodomor as genocide and the need to preserve the memory of these events for future generations.
The students had the opportunity not only to learn more about the historical truth, but also to talk with the researcher, ask questions and discuss archival materials. The meeting ended with the presentation of Valentyn Rybalka’s book “From the Forgotten. Memories and Testimonies about the Holodomor, Collected in Dnipropetrovsk in 2007-2008”, which the author donated to the library.
We thank the “Museum of Resistance to the Holodomor” for the opportunity to organize such an important event! Such meetings not only expand the knowledge of young people, but also contribute to the formation of a consciousness that honors the historical memory and values of the Ukrainian people.
