Workshop as a form of professional training from the Printing Industry, Publishing and Digital Technologies Cluster

On February 23, 2023, a workshop “Fundamentals of color in printing” was held as part of the implementation of the 2023 activity plan of the Cluster of printing industry, publishing houses and digital technologies “Printing: logistics, service, quality”, chaired by Natalya ISAYEVA (Director of Format A+ Publishing and Printing House LLC.
The organizers of the meeting were Maxim POTAPCHUK, mentor of the Cluster (director of “METAL PRINT” LLC) and Olga SVERDLIKOVSKA, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Humanities and Law at the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, professor and at the same time coordinator of the Center for Innovative Costs of the Printing Industry Cluster, which was created on the basis of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology as part of the implementation of the program “EU4Business: competitiveness and internationalization of SMEs”, which jointly funded by the European Union and the German government through the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. During the webinar, there were more than 160 connection points, and more than 200 participants were present.
The moderators of the event were Natalia Isayeva and Olga Sverdlikovska, and then for two hours Maksym Potapchuk presented colorimetric methods on the basis of the specialized laboratory of “METAL PRINT” LLC quality control of color reproduction in polygraphy.
The task of the workshop is to break down in detail the main problem faced by specialists in image reproduction in polygraphy, computer graphics and photography – the inconsistency of the colors of the image when it is interpreted by different devices.
The goal of the event was aimed at forming in those present an understanding of ways to solve the problem of accurate reproduction of color originals, which contributes to the use by enterprises of the ideology and tools of the color reproduction management system, which is designed to ensure the correct joint operation of input devices, display and output of information.
The online workshop has become a real European form and school of professional training in modern skills. For the first time, the self-organization of the professional community made it possible to ensure the transfer of technologies for the industry in real time, to promote the formation of human potential.

 

Maxim Oleksiiovych demonstrated the methods, techniques and possibilities of using colorimetry to manage and control color reproduction in polygraphic systems. The specialist practically, under the cameras, investigated the characteristics of color transformations of the image in the original-print system using new methods of digital processing of publishing originals. All participants of the workshop had the opportunity to ask any questions in the chat and by voice to an industry expert of the highest category and to understand how the implementation takes place in the conditions of technologically modern production, the evaluation of the possibilities of controlling a number of parameters to ensure the target color values recommended by the ISO standard.

 

Cluster participants took part in the event – representatives from various structures of the printing business; students, pedagogical and scientific and pedagogical staff of professional and higher education institutions of Ukraine: Ukrainian State University of Chemistry and Technology, Belotserk Institute of Continuing Professional Education, Interregional Higher Vocational College of Printing and Information Technologies, Stavropol Higher Vocational College of Lviv, Center for Vocational Education of Information of technologies, printing and design in Kyiv, Kharkiv Regional Center for Vocational Education of Printing Media Technologies and Mechanical Engineering, Kherson Vocational Lyceum of Communication and Printing, Bilytsky Vocational Lyceum and others.

 

According to the results of the workshop, it is planned to publish video material about the event, which will include all represented methods of color printing in polygraphy and recommendations for their implementation in practice.
