On August 27, 2025, a memorandum of international cooperation was signed between the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology and the German Helmholtz Center Hereon.

Associate Professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies of the SEI USUCT Oleg Kalinichenko became one of the initiators of the cooperation. Together with the Director of the Institute of Surface Sciences of the Hereon Center, Professor Mikhail Zheludkevych, he prepared and submitted a bilateral Ukrainian-German project “Functionalized PEO coatings for permanent and bioresorbable implants”, as well as a trilateral Ukrainian-German-Portuguese project “Electrochemically stimulated LDH coatings on complex surfaces”.

These studies are aimed at creating new hybrid materials for medical and technical purposes and open up prospects for the development of international scientific cooperation at USUST.
