The USUCT SEI Held a Career Guidance Day at the “TANDEM” Lyceum
On October 9, 2026, representatives of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of USUST held an off-site career guidance event entitled “University and Lyceum: A Step Toward Science and a Future Profession” for students of Dnipro Lyceum No. 123 “TANDEM” of the Dnipro City Council.
Students from three graduating 11th-grade classes took part in the meeting, while the USUCT SEI was represented by a team of 20 lecturers and staff members from various departments. This format gave high school students the opportunity to learn about several educational fields in a single day, ask lecturers questions, and try their hand at interactive tasks.
Representatives of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Food Additives and Cosmetic Products, which cooperates with the “TANDEM” Lyceum, were among the initiators of the meeting.
Associate Professors of the Department Olena Volnianska and Maria Myroniak told the lyceum students about the educational opportunities offered by the USUCT SEI, the practical application of chemical knowledge, and its use in the production of food additives and cosmetic products.
The introduction to this field was also organized in an interactive format. The students were offered thematic tasks and quests that required logic, resourcefulness, a creative approach, and teamwork skills. The lecturers used vivid demonstration materials, introduced the high school students to the department’s educational programs, and answered questions about studying and future professional activities.
Representatives of many other departments of the USUCT SEI also joined the career guidance day.
- the Department of Processes, Apparatuses, and General Chemical Technology was represented by Svitlana Bondarenko and Anna Liashenko.
- the Department of Materials Science was represented by Liudmyla Sudovska, and the Department of Biotechnology and Life Safety by Yuliia Minina.
- Associate Professor Volodymyr Anisimov joined the event on behalf of the Department of Information Systems, and Associate Professor Olena Chernysheva represented the Department of Management and Finance.
- Associate Professor Oleksii Sihunov represented the field of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass, and Biomedical Materials, while Associate Professor Olena Velychko represented the Department of Inorganic Chemistry.
- Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports, and Health Alla Kyrychenko and Associate Professor Oksana Ivchenko spoke about educational opportunities in physical culture and sports.
- Associate Professor Oleksandr Stovpnyk represented the Department of Innovative Engineering, Associate Professor Vladyslav Borysov represented the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies, and Senior Lecturer Liudmyla Zabrudska represented the Department of Philology and Translation.
- the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Department of Technologies of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats and Food Products — Associate Professor Lesia Holub; the Department of Fuel, Polymer, and Printing Materials Technologies — Associate Professor Vitalii Holovenko; the Department of Inorganic Substances Technology and Ecology — Professor Ihor Kovalenko; and the Department of Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Technologies — Associate Professor Ihor Yakymenko.
Each field had its own information materials, presentations of educational programs, quests, puzzles, and demonstration exhibits. As a result, the introduction to the university did not turn into an ordinary list of specialties. The lyceum students could move from one field to another, complete tasks, ask questions, and compare different options for their future career paths.
For the lecturers, this meeting was an opportunity to talk about the specialties through specific examples and practical tasks, while for the 11th-grade students, it was a chance not only to receive information about admission but also to communicate directly with those who teach university students and better understand which field matches their interests.
We thank the administration of Dnipro Lyceum No. 123 “TANDEM” of the Dnipro City Council for their cooperation and hospitality, and the students of the three graduating classes for their active participation, curiosity, and interest.
