The SEI USUCT Celebrated Chemist’s Day and Hosted the “Magic of Reactions” Open Day Event.

On 30 May 2026, a large-scale celebration of Chemist’s Day and an Open Day event under the symbolic title “Magic of Reactions” took place on the fountain square of the Educational and Scientific Institute “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.

The event brought together students, lecturers, alumni, prospective applicants, parents, and business representatives, becoming a vivid demonstration of how modern science, education, and industry interact to shape the future.

The festive programme began in the morning. The institute hosted interactive faculty locations, an admissions consultation area, a food court, a photo zone, an exhibition of creative works by Dariia Boklah, a student of group 1-D-25, as well as a quest for prospective applicants featuring the university’s own currency, “uduntyks,” which participants could exchange for gifts.

During the official opening ceremony, participants honored the memory of Ukrainian defenders, after which the National Anthem of Ukraine was performed.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, and the Director of the SEI USUCT, Professor Olha Sverdlikovska. They congratulated the university community on the professional holiday and emphasized the important role of chemical science and technology in the development of the country.

Throughout the day, a themed concert programme took place on stage, built around the concept of a chemical reaction—from the “initiation of the reaction” to its “crystallization.”

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the dance ensemble “Euphoria”, which presented a choreographic performance themed “Reaction Initiation”. This was followed by a vocal performance by student Mariia Verbytska, symbolizing the stage of “Stabilization”. Particularly memorable was the dance performance “Reaction Explosion” by student Alina Lehka. The creative programme concluded with a large-scale student flash mob “Crystallization”, which united the participants of the celebration into one team.

Special attention was paid to interaction between students, prospective applicants, and employer representatives. The event was attended by university partners and representatives of leading industry companies, including the engineering and design company AQUA-HOLDING, the pharmacy chain PODOROZHNYK, the companies Microkhim and MedLev, the travel agency Victory Travel, and the brewery MOVA Brewing Co.

During the meetings, business representatives spoke about current labor market demands, opportunities for internships, career development, and cooperation with university students and graduates.

A separate part of the programme was devoted to the presentation of the 2026 admissions campaign. Representatives of the USUST Admissions Committee introduced prospective applicants to the admission rules, application procedures, and educational opportunities offered by the university.

One of the most spectacular highlights of the celebration was the themed chemical show “Potteriana”, which transported guests into a world of magic and scientific experimentation. The demonstration experiments were conducted by SEI USUCT lecturers Olena Velychko, Zhanna Bilenka, and Svitlana Zhorniak. During the show, the audience witnessed a series of impressive experiments inspired by the world of Harry Potter, vividly demonstrating how fascinating and visually engaging modern chemistry can be.

During the official ceremony, partners of the SEI USUCT who actively support educational, career guidance, and professional development initiatives were recognized with letters of appreciation from the institute.

Letters of appreciation were awarded to:

  • the engineering and design company AQUA-HOLDING;
  • the pharmacy chain PODOROZHNYK, represented by Dariia Redchyts and Regional Director Yevhen Poliavka;

The celebration of Chemist’s Day once again confirmed that the SEI USUCT is not only a center of high-quality education and scientific research, but also a space for creativity, professional development, business partnerships, and the formation of the next generation of specialists. The Open Day provided prospective applicants with an excellent opportunity to become better acquainted with the university, its opportunities, and the people who create the true magic of science every day.
