The Final Meeting of the “GREEN–ED. Green Education of Dnipro” Project Took Place at the SEI USUCT
On 20 May 2026, the final meeting of the 2026 season of the educational project “GREEN–ED. Green Education of Dnipro” for gymnasiums of the city of Dnipro was held at the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
The project became an important platform for promoting environmental awareness, science, and the principles of sustainable development among the youth of the region. Participants of the event were welcomed by the Director of the SEI USUCT, Professor Olha Sverdlikovska, and the Deputy Executive Secretary of the USUST Admissions Committee, Professor Margarita Skyba.
The final event of the season brought together school students, lecturers, and everyone interested in modern environmental technologies, chemistry, biotechnology, and engineering. The event was held in the format of interactive laboratory and practical activities, during which participants had the opportunity not only to observe experiments but also to take part in scientific research themselves.
The programme combined fundamental science, modern technologies, and practical aspects of sustainable development. For example, at the Department of Inorganic Substances Technology and Ecology, participants studied soil properties and became familiar with methods of organoleptic identification of inorganic substances through flame coloration.
Particular interest was generated by modern engineering fields, including computer-based 3D modelling of implants, demonstrations of 3D printers and additive technologies, as well as practical examples of the use of IT in the modern world.
At the Department of Technologies of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats and Food Products, participants were shown the synthesis of biodiesel and the possibilities of 3D printing of polymers as an example of “green” technologies of the future.
No less interesting was the series of master classes dedicated to decorative soap making, stencil printing, polyethylene recycling by extrusion, and testing of petroleum products. Participants also learned methods of primary food product expertise by packaging and explored protein degradation processes in aggressive environments.
The bright finale of the meeting was a spectacular chemistry show that gave the audience unforgettable emotions. The demonstration of impressive reactions and scientific experiments once again proved that modern science can be not only useful but also exciting and inspiring.
The “GREEN-ED. Green Education of Dnipro” project once again confirmed that environmental education, innovation, and the popularization of science are important components in shaping a conscious and responsible future generation.
