On April 28, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology hosted the 1st All-Ukrainian Student Case Championship in Materials Science in Biomedical Engineering. Students from leading higher education institutions of Ukraine took part in the event, representing specialties 163 “Biomedical Engineering”, 161 “Chemical Technologies and Engineering”, and 132 “Materials Science”.

The event was organized in cooperation with several universities, and its program included team-based tasks of varying complexity — from test assignments to the development of original engineering solutions. The work was conducted in a дистанційний format with mentoring support from faculty members.

The SEI USUCT was represented both among the organizers and within the jury. Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials Yaroslava Koltsova participated in the evaluation process. Among the team mentors were Associate Professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies Oleh Kalinichenko, as well as Associate Professors of the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials Oleksii Sihunov and Oleksandra Amelina. Students of the university also took part in the championship, demonstrating a high level of training and receiving prize places and awards in various nominations.

Based on the results of the competition, participants were awarded diplomas and certificates confirming the competencies acquired within the framework of non-formal education.

The event demonstrated students’ strong interest in interdisciplinary research and highlighted the importance of practice-oriented learning formats in training modern engineers.
