Students of the SEI USUCT visited the medical rehabilitation department of the City Hospital No. 16

On October 8, 2025, students of the specialty “Physical Culture and Sports” of the educational program “Regenerative Physical Culture and Sports” of the SEI USUCT USUST, together with the head of the department of physical culture, sports and health, associate professor Lina Sokolova, visited the medical rehabilitation department of the City Hospital No. 16 in Dnipro. During the excursion, young specialists got acquainted with modern methods of patient rehabilitation and gained practical skills by observing the work of professionals.

The head of the department, physical therapist and occupational therapist Oleksiy Igorovich Leleka, conducted a meaningful and informative excursion, demonstrating modern equipment and rehabilitation methods. He emphasized that such meetings help students feel the value of a profession that returns movement, strength, and self-confidence to people.

Special attention was paid to innovative equipment for restoring balance, equilibrium, and mobility of patients after amputations and strokes. Students saw the work of BOSU balancing platforms, suspension trainers, interactive sensory systems, anti-gravity treadmills, PPAM Aid devices, and virtual reality technologies that combine rehabilitation with motivational game scenarios. Techniques for restoring fine motor skills of the hand using robotic manipulators, electrical stimulation, and sensory stimulation were also demonstrated.

Students noted that familiarization with the practical work of the department was an important experience that helps to realize the combination of science, technology, and humanity in the rehabilitation process. 4th year student Tetyana Humenna noted: “We saw how technology is combined with human warmth. Rehabilitation is a path to dignity, confidence and faith in one’s own strength.”

Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Health Oksana Mykolaivna Ivchenko emphasized that such events form in students the values ​​of professional responsibility and readiness to help people restore a full life.
