Scientists of the USUCT SEI Took Part in Events Marking the 100th Anniversary of the Department of NTU “KhPI”
24–25 September 2026, representatives of the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” took part in scientific and ceremonial events marking the 100th anniversary of the Department of Ceramic Technology, Refractories, Glass and Enamels of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.
The USUCT SEI was represented by the Head of the Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oleksandr Zaichuk; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Scientific School of Chemistry and Technology of New Enamels, Glasses, Ceramics and Other Silicate Materials Viktor Holeus; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Oleksii Sihunov; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yaroslava Koltsova; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher Oleksandra Amelina.
On September 24, the researchers took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Innovative Approaches in the Technologies of Refractory Non-Metallic and Silicate Materials: Traditions, Experience, Future”. During the plenary session of the conference, Oleksandr Zaichuk presented the areas of scientific work of the Department in the fields of ceramic, glass-ceramic and binding materials, protective coatings, composite materials, and biomaterials.
On September 25, representatives of the USUCT SEI took part in the ceremonial meeting marking the centenary of the NTU “KhPI” Department. During the event, Professor Oleksandr Zaichuk read out a congratulatory address from the Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Kostiantyn Sukhyi, and conveyed congratulations to the staff of the jubilee Department from the university community.
The Department’s researchers also attended the unveiling of a memorial plaque to Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Ivanovych Ryshchenko, who headed the NTU “KhPI” Department for many years. His name is also connected with the history of our institution: in 2009, Mykhailo Ryshchenko was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Chemical Technology.
During the visit, an interdepartmental working meeting was held. Representatives of USUST and Kharkiv universities discussed educational programs in specialties G1 “Chemical Technologies and Engineering” and G22 “Biomedical Engineering”, current areas of scientific research, and opportunities for disseminating the results of state-funded research projects.
For the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials, such cooperation is a continuation of professional ties with related scientific schools and provides an opportunity to exchange experience in training specialists, present research results, and plan joint scientific initiatives.
