On October 1–2, 2025, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Trends in the Development and Production of Silicate Materials” was held at the Lviv Polytechnic National University. The event brought together leading scientists, postgraduates, students and industry representatives who are researching modern trends in glass, ceramics and binder technologies.

The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology was represented by a delegation of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology, consisting of Vice-Rector Olga Ryzhova, Associate Professors of the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials Yaroslava Koltsova and Olexiy Sigunov, PhD student Serhiy Matsenko, Assistant Professor Yulia Kalishenko, and PhD students Danyl Filonenko and Olexandra Makedonska-Bilykh. Associate Professors of the Department Olexandra Amelina and Olena Khomenko and PhD student Iryna Nadtochiy joined the event online.

Our scientists presented the results of their own research on modern technologies in the field of glass, ceramics and biomaterials. In particular, doctoral student Sergiy Matsenko gave a report on the influence of oxidants MnO₂ and CeO₂ on the formation of iron-containing glaze coatings, and associate professor Olena Khomenko on the peculiarities of phase formation of engobe coatings for ceramic bricks. Associate professor Yaroslava Koltsova spoke about the prospects for using industrial waste to create glass-crystal materials for various purposes.

The sectional meetings also featured Danylo Filonenko on the study of glass properties in the SrO–Al₂O₃–B₂O₃–SiO₂ system, Yulia Kalishenko on the work on the regularities of cordierite phase formation in the synthesis of low-temperature ceramics, Olexandra Makedonska on the topic of hydroxyapatite synthesis for medical composites, Iryna Nadtochiy on the study of stabilization of the Al₂TiO₅ structure by oxide additives, and Olexander Sigunov on the development of cellular concrete compositions using metallic silicon.

During the conference, the participants discussed current trends in the development of silicate technologies and exchanged scientific ideas and experience.

After the plenary sessions, the guests were given a tour of the historical buildings of Lviv Polytechnic and a walk around the city.
