Postgraduate Student of the Department of TNR and E Viacheslav Zinin Defended His Dissertation on Composite Fuels

On September 11, 2026, a public defense of the dissertation of Viacheslav Viktorovych Zinin, a postgraduate student of the Department of Inorganic Substances Technology and Ecology of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology”, took place at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The dissertation entitled “Composite Suspension Fuels Based on Solid Tire Pyrolysis Materials” was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 161 “Chemical Technologies and Engineering”.

The scientific supervisor was Yuliia Valeriivna Polishchuk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Scientific Center for Innovative Materials and Technologies of USUST.

The defense took place at a meeting of a one-time specialized academic council, which included:

• Chair of the one-time academic council — Olena Viktorivna Tertyshna, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of USUST;
• Reviewer — Yevhen Ivanovych Malyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Metallurgical Fuels and Refractories of the SEI “Dnipro Metallurgical Institute” of USUST;
• Reviewer — Olena Borysivna Shevchenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies of the SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” of USUST;
• Official opponent — Serhii Valeriiovych Boichenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Automation, Electrical and Mechatronic Complexes of the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”;
• Official opponent — Oleh Bohdanovych Hrynyshyn, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Oil and Gas Processing of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

One of the areas of the research was the development of composite suspension fuels based on pyrocarbon. This approach makes it possible to combine the utilization of solid tire pyrolysis products with the production of alternative fuel. The developed compositions are intended for efficient combustion of carbon-containing material and can be used in liquid-fuel boilers.

The relevance of the research is related to the need to find alternative energy resources, rationally use secondary raw materials, and reduce the environmental impact.
