On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of World Vyshyvanka Day, a thematic photo project “Between the Past and the Future” took place at the History Museum of SEI «Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology» USUST. Student tour guides of the museum took part in it.

The photoshoot was held in the museum hall among exhibits preserving university history, as well as in the Art Space and inner courtyard of SEI USUCT. The authors avoided staged historical images and focused on sincerity, naturalness, and modern student vision of Ukrainian traditions.

The participants of the photo project appeared in vyshyvankas as symbols of national identity, cultural memory, and generational connection. Through the photos, they conveyed the atmosphere of a vibrant university space where history merges with modernity, and traditions remain an important part of youth culture.

The museum exhibits and the intimate atmosphere of the institute’s inner courtyard added special mood to the photos. It was in these details that the photo project revealed the idea of Vyshyvanka Day not only as a festive date, but as a symbol of inner unity, respect for cultural heritage, and love for Ukraine.

Photo projects and thematic flash mobs for Vyshyvanka Day have become part of the cultural life of SEI USUCT and the university community as a whole. In previous years, the university implemented thematic initiatives, including the 2022 photo flash mob “Vyshyvanka – Your Genetic Code”, the 2024 flash mob “We Embroider Victory”, and the 2025 online flash mob “Vyshyvanka is the language our soul speaks”.

Today, Vyshyvanka Day remains one of the most famous Ukrainian cultural symbols uniting Ukrainians around the world. For students, participation in such creative initiatives is an opportunity to promote Ukrainian culture and support university traditions through modern photography, art, and personal images.
