Oleksandr Andriyovych Pivovarov – forever in the memory of the university community of USUCT

With deep sorrow we announce that on February 25, 2026, the heart of an outstanding scientist, educator, and mentor — Oleksandr Andriiovych Pivovarov (10.02.1947 – 25.02.2026), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Rector — stopped beating. He left a profound mark on the history of our university.

Oleksandr Andriiovych graduated from the Dnipro Chemical-Technological Institute in 1973 with a degree in “Chemical Engineering and Process Equipment Engineering” and devoted his entire professional life to the development of science and education. In 1978 he defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation, and in 1991 — his Doctoral dissertation in the field of inorganic substances technology.

During 2013–2019, Oleksandr Andriiovych served as the Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology. He contributed to the development of the university, promoted the modernization of educational programs, international cooperation, and the expansion of scientific potential. At his initiative, the university actively participated in projects with international partners, particularly within the framework of the European program Erasmus+ “Water Harmony”, which made it possible to modernize the material and technical base and develop new educational courses.

Professor Pivovarov was a renowned scientist and the author of a significant scientific legacy: more than 380 publications, 14 monographs, 5 study guides, and 3 textbooks, as well as 69 patents and author’s certificates. Under his scientific supervision, numerous Candidate and Doctoral dissertations were defended, which became the foundation for new scientific schools and research projects.

Oleksandr Andriiovych also actively represented the scientific community abroad, delivering presentations at international conferences in Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Poland, and other countries. He served as the Chairman of the Ukrainian Union of Scientists of the International Association “Risk Management for Preventive Medicine”.

His professionalism, openness to new ideas, love for science, and sincere support for students and colleagues will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who had the honor of working alongside him.

We express our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students on this great loss. The bright memory of Oleksandr Andriiovych Pivovarov will remain with us forever.
