Literary challenge at the SEI USUCT unite around the Kobzar on the occasion of Taras Shevchenko birthday

To commemorate the birthday of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, the Educational and Scientific Institute of USUCT, Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology, hosted a literary challenge “United Around Kobzar”, which brought together students, faculty, and young researchers around the creative heritage of the great Ukrainian poet.

The initiative was part of a broader program of Shevchenko events at the university and was launched by the Head of the History Museum of the Educational and Scientific Institute of USUCT, student affairs specialist Maryna Demidko. As part of the challenge, representatives from various educational and scientific institutes prepared videos reciting Taras Shevchenko’s poems and excerpts from the “Kobzar”, demonstrating their own creative interpretation of the immortal lines.

Representatives of the Educational and Scientific Institute of USUCT actively participated in the challenge. In particular, the assistant of the Department of Biotechnology and Life Safety, Valeria Pavlova, performed Taras Shevchenko’s poem “Fate”. Members of the creative association “Literaturnyk USUCT” Anastasiia Fitkovska (Faculty of EGP, group 1-SO(a)-3), Alina Hordienko (Faculty of EGP, group 4-FIL-65), Anastasiia Kulyk (Faculty F and BT, group 2-FP-65), Arina Kulachko (Faculty of EGP, group 2-SO(a)-90), and Oleksandra Sniehur (Faculty H and HT, group 4-PO-12) presented a joint performance of the poem “Sometimes the Old Man…”.

A separate performance was prepared by Oleksandra Sniehur, who recited the poem “It is All the Same to Me”, while PhD student of HDK, Andrii Popovych, presented an original poem dedicated to the figure of Kobzar.

During these March days, the library of the Educational and Scientific Institute of USUCT also joined the Shevchenko-themed events, organizing a book exhibition “Unite Ukraine with Taras’ Word”. It presented readers with publications dedicated to the life and work of the poet, his poetry, prose, and artistic heritage. Visitors had the opportunity to get closer to different aspects of Shevchenko’s creativity and once again realize the relevance of his words for contemporary Ukrainian society.

The literary challenge became yet another confirmation that Taras Shevchenko’s poetry continues to inspire youth, foster national consciousness, and unite the academic community around the spiritual values of the Ukrainian people.
