International Museum Selfie Day 2026 at the SEI USUCT
On January 21, 2026, the Museum of History of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology (USUCT) hosted the celebration of Museum Selfie Day, an international initiative that combines modern digital culture and traditional museum values.
Museum Selfie Day is a global campaign launched in 2014 by British blogger Mar Dixon with the aim of making museums more accessible, interactive and attractive to a wide audience. Every year on the third Wednesday of January, people from different countries share photos with their favorite exhibits, demonstrating that a museum is not only a place for contemplation, but also a space for lively communication, creativity and vivid memories.
On this day, the Museum of History of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology (USUCT) was filled with smiles, cameras and sincere curiosity about the past. Students, teachers and guests had the opportunity to choose their favorite exhibits and take a photo next to them.
The event participants actively joined the flash mob: visitors took pictures near unique exhibits, scientific instruments, historical documents and thematic installations, adding their selfies to the museum atmosphere. Such photos became not only memorable photos, but also a way to show that museum exhibits are living stories that speak to everyone who wants to hear them.
“A museum selfie is a great opportunity to experience the museum in a new way as a space where everyone can be not just an observer, but an active participant in culture and history,” the organizers noted.
The festive event at the museum of the National Institute of History of the USUCT demonstrated how important it is to preserve cultural heritage in an interactive format and make it closer to the modern generation.
We invite everyone to visit the Museum of History of the National Institute of History of the USUCT throughout the year, get acquainted with the exhibits and create their own stories in the museum halls.
