On October 23, 2025, applicants and teachers of the Department of Biotechnology and Life Safety of the SEI USUCT USUST took part in an educational and practical event on mine safety.

The class took place within the framework of the agreement on cooperation between the department and the center of the public organization “Defense of the State” with the participation of specialists from the international humanitarian organization The HALO Trust Ukraine, which specializes in demining territories and teaching the population the rules of safe behavior.

During the event, representatives of The HALO Trust Ukraine spoke about the main types of explosive objects, the system of marking dangerous areas, and the actions that must be taken in case of detection of suspicious objects.

Students of educational programs K10 “Civil Security”, G21 “Biotechnology and Bioengineering” and A7 “Physical Rehabilitation“, studying the discipline “Life Safety”, received important practical knowledge and were convinced that danger can be hidden in familiar things.

Assistant of the department Valeria Pavlova emphasized that mines are often disguised as everyday objects, so attentiveness and knowledge of safety rules can save lives.

Head of the department Natalia Mitina noted that in conditions of full-scale war, practical skills become especially important: what is considered in theory often differs from the real mining conditions that specialists encounter in practice.
