On April 18, 2025, the Department of Energy of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology (USUCT) became a platform for schoolchildren to get acquainted with modern science and technology. As part of the Engineering Week, the institute was visited by 10th grade students of the Municipal Educational Institution “Financial and Economic Lyceum of Scientific Direction at the University of Customs and Finance” of the Dnipro City Council.

During the visit, the schoolchildren learned more about the university, the specialties of the Department of Energy, and the prospects for professional development in the energy sector. The central event was practical laboratory work on the topic “Energy and Ecology of the Future”.

The participants of the event conducted a series of experiments with wind and solar energy:

• were introduced to different wind turbine designs;
• simulated the operation of wind turbines under different conditions;
• assembled an operating solar mini-power plant;
• calculated the efficiency of a photovoltaic panel, its payback period, and potential annual profit.

In addition, the students visited the department’s training laboratories, where they had the opportunity to see 3D printers in action and learn about the application of additive technologies in scientific research.

The event proved that renewable energy is not only a topical topic, but a real vector of development in the modern world. The Department of Energy sincerely thanks the teachers and students of the lyceum for their interest and active participation in the event. See you again at our university!
