Ecologists of the SEI USUCT completed the course “Integration of Climate Policies in Ukraine”
Students of the specialty 101 (E2) Ecology, together with the professor of the Department of Inorganic Materials Technology and Ecology of the SEI USUCT USUST, Doctor of Technical Sciences Margarita Skyba, successfully completed the free certified course “Integration of Climate Policies in Ukraine” and received certificates.
The training took place within the framework of studying the discipline “Meteorology and Climatology”, which is taught by Professor Margarita Skyba, the guarantor of the bachelor’s level educational program.
The course was created with the support of the Ukrainian Climate Office and the Green Deal Ukraine project in cooperation with the Prometheus platform. The educational program was developed by an international team of climate policy experts, including scientists and policymakers from seven European countries who have practical experience in developing climate strategies at the level of EU institutions.
The program covered the following key topics:
- anthropogenic climate change and its consequences;
- mitigation and adaptation strategies, climate losses and damages of Ukraine in the war;
- European decarbonization trends and their impact on the economy of Ukraine;
- EU climate legislation, ETS mechanisms, CBAM and other regulatory instruments;
- decarbonization of the energy sector;
- principles of green post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and integration into the European Green Deal.
The knowledge gained will help students navigate international climate policies, understand the impact of climate requirements on the economy and business of Ukraine, apply EU tools for green transformation and participate in professional projects on the country’s climate modernization.
