Dnipro School Students Explored “Green Chemistry” and 3D Printing in the Laboratories of SEI USUCT
At the Educational and Scientific Institute “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology” (SEI USUCT) of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology, the educational project “GREEN-ED. Green Education of Dnipro” continues, aimed at promoting the natural sciences and fostering environmental awareness among youth.
On March 13, 2026, students from Dnipro Gymnasium No. 63 visited the university laboratories of the Department of Technologies of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats, and Food Products. During the session, the school students learned about the principles of “green chemistry” and explored how renewable eco-friendly fuel for diesel engines is produced. The discussion covered technologies for producing such fuel from vegetable oils, animal fats, and even used cooking oils.
In addition to laboratory work, the participants got acquainted with modern 3D printing technologies—the process of creating three-dimensional objects by layer-by-layer deposition of material. The school students had the opportunity to see a 3D printer in action and print small souvenirs themselves as a keepsake of their visit to the university.
Such sessions help school students better understand how scientific knowledge is applied in practice and open up new opportunities to explore the world of modern technologies and research.
The laboratory work and practical session for the students were conducted by the Head of the Department of Technologies of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats, and Food Products, Professor Oleh Chervakov, Professor Kostiantyn Varlan, and Associate Professor Denys Chervakov.
The educational project “GREEN-ED. Green Education of Dnipro” is aimed at developing environmental awareness among youth and promoting the natural sciences to school students.
