SCIENTIFIC SCHOOLS

Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology is a leading scientific center in the field of chemistry and chemical technology which theoretical, technological and technical development is well-known in Ukraine and abroad.

Scientific schools that became the main centers of scientific elaboration were formed and developed during the history of the University. Among them:

Synthesis and Investigation of Organic, Polymeric, and Composition Materials

The school was founded in 1955 by Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. Moschynskaya N.K. Nowadays the school is headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor K.M. Sukhyi

Basic direction of research is development of scientific basis of structural composition materials production based on water-soluble and modified polymers and bioactive matters.

The obtained results are applied in polymeric and structural composition materials production, sensors, energy sector.

According to the experimental results 8 doctoral and 53 candidate’s dissertations have been defended; over 1250 scientific works have been published.

160 certificates of authorship and patents prove the developments.  50 monographs, textbooks and books have been published.

Electrochemistry and its Application in Different Industries

The school was founded in 1953 by Doctor of engineering sciences, Prof. V.V. Stender. Nowadays the school is headed by Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. M.D. Koshel.

Basic directions of research are investigation of electrochemical processes in biological objects, development and research of lithium current sources and design of macro kinetics of processes in the electrochemical systems.

Obtained results are applied in chemical technology, chemical current sources, space research, and biotechnology.

According to the experimental results, 10 doctoral and 36 candidate’s dissertations have been defended; more than 750 scientific works have been published. More than 50 certificates of authorship and patents have been obtained, six monographs and nine course books have been published.

Scientific Bases of Synthesis and Reactivity of Nitrogen- and Sulfur-Containing Organic Bioregulators

Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. A.E. Kretov . founded the school in 1952. Nowadays Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. V.I. Markov heads the school.

Basic direction of research is development of scientific bases of synthesis and reactivity of N-, S-heterocycles with the purpose to produce compounds with predicted properties.

Obtained results have been applied in pharmacy, agriculture, experimental biology.

According to experimental results, 13 doctoral and 103 candidate’s dissertations defended and more than 1050 scientific works have been published.

More than 150 certificates of authorship and patents have been obtained, out of which three were sold by license agreement. 7 monographs have been published.

Theory of Electrochemical Processes at Metal Electrodeposition Accounting the Structure and Composition of Near-Electrode Area

Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. M.A. Loshkarev founded the school in 1948.

Nowadays Doctor of chemical sciences, Prof. F.I. Danilov  is the head of the school.

Basic direction of research is investigation of fundamental and applied aspects of adsorption phenomena influence on electrochemical kinetics, and creation of scientific grounds of intensive electrochemical technologies of product obtainment with the set properties.

Electroplating, ecology and power engineering are the fields of application of the obtained results.

The experiments resulted in 11 doctoral and 111 candidate’s dissertations; more than 1000 scientific works and 10 monographs have been published.

More than 160 certificates of authorship and patents have been obtained.  Chemistry and Technology of New Enamels, Glasses, Ceramics and Other Silicate Materials.

The school was founded in 1960 by Doctor of engineering sciences, Prof. G.I. Beliaiev.  Nowadays the school is headed by Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Doctor of engineering sciences, Prof. V.I Goleus.

The main areas of research are the creation of scientific bases in production of new types of refractory non-metal and silicate materials: development of glass coat for multifunctional use (insulating, chemically stable); glassy and ceramic solid electrolytes for lithium and lithium-ionic chemical power sources; glassceramic materials, working in extreme conditions (heat-resistant, insulating, durable); soft glasses and composite materials for soldering of ceramics and metals; powder vitreous paints  for hot decorating products from high-quality glass; ceramic pigments (including those based on recycled materials) of wide color spectrum; mass production of ceramic products for construction, sanitary and technical purposes on the basis of Ukrainian deposits; coatings (engobes, glazes) for ceramic products of construction and sanitary purposes.

The results of research introduced at enterprises that produce glass, enamel and ceramic products.

The experiments resulted in 12 doctoral and 57 candidate’s dissertations; more than 600 scientific works, more than 200 certificates of authorship and patents.
